Zoom Whitening By Cosmetic Dentists

Teeth whitening can transform your teeth from dull and dingy to bright and white. One of the best methods is Zoom whitening. This method is done in the dentist’s office and it takes about an hour to complete.

What is Zoom teeth whitening?

Your teeth can become stained or discolored due to a number of factors. Drinking dark-colored beverages like coffee and tea can stain the teeth. Using tobacco products can leave behind distinct discoloration. Aging teeth can become dull and discolored due to thinning enamel.

Zoom teeth whitening can take your stained or discolored teeth and transform them. This is a patented technique developed by Philips Oral Healthcare. It is available only through your dentist’s office as it contains very concentrated ingredients that require professional application.

How is Zoom whitening applied?

Before you undergo a Zoom teeth whitening procedure, your dentist will ensure that your teeth are in good condition. If you have underlying dental problems, the dentist may recommend alternative whitening procedures or delaying the Zoom treatment until you resolve the existing issues.

The Zoom procedure itself is pretty simple. The dentist will cover your gums and lips with a protective cover. The next step is to apply the Zoom whitening gel to the surface of the teeth. This gel contains highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide. The dentist will activate the gel using a special light. The gel and light work together for 15 minutes. The dentist will repeat this procedure two more times for a total of 45 minutes of treatment time. At the end of the procedure, the dentist will apply a fluoride paste gel that will help reduce sensitivity.

Most patients report little or no discomfort during the procedure. The light gives off minimal heat. Some patients experience tingling during the procedure, but it is harmless and quickly dissipates. Those that have a sensitive gag reflex can use a sensitivity-reducing toothpaste before the procedure to reduce its effects.

How do you maintain your newly whitened teeth?

To maintain the Zoom whitening effects, you will get a home-use touch-up kit. The exact instructions for using the kit will be based on how well the initial treatment worked. Regular brushing and flossing will help keep the teeth looking their best.

The dentist will advise you if you need to avoid or minimize the consumption of certain foods or beverages (tea, coffee, wine). Using tobacco products is also something to avoid as they can re-stain the teeth.
